In 2020 We Woke Up In the Twilight Zone

2020! What a year so far! I mean, it started off great but then about early March we all woke up in the Twilight Zone. I know a lot of people have already shared their thoughts and opinions on everything from the COVID-19 pandemic and the shutdown to the protests/riots/BLM-Antifa stuff going on all over the country. Hell, after 20 minutes on social media even my head starts to spin. Like many of you, my brain and soul is absolutely exhausted and I worry about my country and about people going through similar things all over the world. I do hope and pray that things get better soon.

I can’t be the only one that feels that common sense is the new counter culture. These days I care less and less about anything coming out of Hollywood (movies and opinions) or the sports world. People living in a bubble telling the rest of us how to think and feel is pretty pathetic. People that listen to that noise, well, let’s just say I feel sorry for them. Social media has its purpose, I suppose. I do find more news that is accurate on Twitter coming from other users than I do from any of the mainstream media. You guys know I write some pretty far out stuff, but I don’t think that is a conspiracy theory to believe that we’ve been sold a bill of goods, a false narrative, from politicians, the media, and pop culture for a long time. It’s like people are waking up and finding out they’ve been lied to and whoever the powers that be are have decided to turn up the heat and burn it all down in 2020.

I’m not going to get political and tell you how to think (or try to influence you in any way). I’ve lost friends on social media for no other reason than having a difference of opinion on one issue or another. It’s a toxic environment. We’d all be better off turning off the news and avoiding social media for a while. Maybe read those books we’ve meant to get to for years, or go hang out with a few friends and learn a new hobby together.

Do you ever wonder what the world would look like if we all wised up and became self sufficient and educated ourselves, sought out the truth for ourselves, became our own journalist without an agenda? I wonder that sometimes.

Anyway, I’ll avoid a rant. Let’s all make the world a better place. Do something nice for a stranger tomorrow. Hug someone that needs a hug. Listen to someone that needs a shoulder. We have a chance to live in a much better world, but I guess it starts with each of us. Kind of like that whole Michael Jackson “Man in the Mirror” tune, I suppose.

I’ll shut up and go back to writing books and short stories again. Thanks for lending me your ear…er, your eyes.

Cheers!
